Bora Bora is expensive, very expensive. You can spend thousands just on food. Unfortunately your hotel knows that you are on a island and it is convenient to just eat at the hotel, so they hike up the price for that delicious fresh fish. BUT you know better!! Here are 5 places you can eat on a budget and have the best meals in Bora Bora at these local restaurants. If you make reservations the restaurants will pick you up and take you to the restaurant once you take the ferry over to the main island.
Here is our list (in order) of the amazing restaurants we ate that didn’t break the bank:
Matira Beach Restaurant
This was our favorite restaurant in Bora Bora. We had fresh and delicious sushi and amazing drinks. It was just a short drive from out hotel. This is a small restaurant with the option to do hibachi. It wasn’t crowded and staff was friendly and accommodating.
The Yacht Club
The yacht club is a great restaurant. It is a literal yacht club and you can see all the yachts in the water as you eat. Unfortunately it rained the day we went, but every other day there is an amazing sunset that you can have while eating. They have great fresh food. We had fish, vegetables, fries, their fresh bread and salad. This is one of our favorite restaurants.
The Lucky House
This is a little restaurant that was located near our hotel. We opted to buy pizza pies and bring them back to your patio to eat. But you can go and eat there. We only had the pizza but there were many other foods on the menu! This was a great economical place to eat.
This is the most famous restaurant in Bora Bora. They have a board of all the famous people that have come and eaten here. Back in the day it use to be party central, but now it is a delicious restaurant. You walk in and pick what you want to eat. They have all the meat and seafood laid out for you to see and you just point to the piece you want and then take your seat in the sand while they prepare it for you! The food was good but the atmosphere was what makes it. Because of the popularity, this restaurant was busy!
Go to the convenience store and get the fresh delicious bread, cheese, meats, and don’t forget the Tahiti drinks ( basically a mixed alcoholic drink , in a carton, the most delicious and economic drink in Bora Bora) and make some awesome sandwiches and eat on your patio overlooking the water. It is your own waterfront dining with the comforts of a bathing suit and just each other.
